Our workshop manager will program a schedule of PMIs, MOT preparation, book MOT tests, Roller Brake testing, LOLAR testing and Tacho calibration. We have a large stock of serviceable items supplied by manufacturers, plus regular late afternoon deliveries from suppliers to minimize the downtime of your vehicles. Our technicians are all time-served and qualified HGV technicians, we do not cut corners or supply substandard parts. What does MOT preparation include?
General Preparation
We will turn on the ignition and make sure:
- Your horn, windscreen washers and wipers are working.
- The screen wash is topped up.
- The rubber blades on your windscreen wipers are functioning.
- Your seat belts are working and free from damage.
Tyre Preparation
We will assess your tyres to ensure that:
- There are no bulges, cuts or objects stuck in the tread.
- The tread is at least 1.6mm deep.
- Each tyre matches the opposite on the same axle for size and construction type.
- If the vehicle has a spare tyre, it is road-legal as well.
Light Preparation
We will assess your lights to ensure that:
- All exterior bulbs are working and lenses are free from cracks or damage.
- All headlights (both dipped and main beam), front and rear side lights, stop lights, reversing lights, front and rear fog lights and all indicators plus number plate lights are working.
Bodywork Preparation
We will check the bodywork to ensure that all bumpers are secure and all doors can be accessed.
Brake Preparation
We will assess your brakes to ensure:
- That brake fluid level is between the ‘min’ and ‘max’ indicators.
- The handbrake is working correctly.
Steering Preparation
We will assess your steering to make sure:
- Steering is tight on the column.
- That there are no knocks or whining sounds when turning the steering wheel.
Exhaust Preparation
We will assess your exhaust to make sure there is no corrosion and that there are no unusual sounds.
